Courses in technical and digital skills lie at the heart of Simplon.co's ethos as a social enterprise. Designed for people out of formal employment with an aim to strike balance in gender representation, Simplon.co's programs address a critical need for skill development in an increasingly digital economy through reskilling and/or upskilling. We firmly believe that digital transformation is a powerful vehicle for social innovation and can enable those who struggle to access training and/or the job market to become the talents of tomorrow by finding a job or becoming an entrepreneur.

Simplon.co commenced operations in India in 2019 by opening two residential training centers in Mumbai and Pune, respectively, in partnership with Capgemini India and Pratham InfoTech. While the one in Pune remained 100% female, Mumbai was based on a more traditional model with trainees coming in from neighbouring areas. Simplon.co India also launched the Social Impact Accelerator, a project in collaboration with Microsoft and Ashoka, supporting 3 to 5 social entrepreneurs (Ashoka Fellows) in the development and integration ​​​​​​​of tech.-based solutions to maximize social impact. ​​​​​​​Building on the success of our pilot phase, Simplon India is currently working towards setting up Digital Academies for providing free training programs on digital tools and technologies and active pedagogical support to civil society organisations.
